Abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani

I was in Bardstown, Kentucky this last weekend for the wedding of my cousin Kris, of Ohio Festivals fame, to Julia Christensen. The ceremony was beautiful, the reception fantastic, and the hospitality outstanding. A lot of family made the trip, and it was a very enjoyable weekend. On Saturday, we took a trip to the Abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani. The gift shop there sold many items produced by the monks, from cheeses and fudges, to oil candles and icons. I wanted to see the church, and was quite impressed with the gift shop, too.

The symbols on the stone represent the life of Christ:

He Came

He Died

He Arose

He Ascended

He Will Return
