PhotoPhun Challenge: Architectural Features

This week’s PhotoPhun Challenge was shooting the architectural features of some of the areas older buildings, posed by Bryan Goldthorpe. And I’ve just been by Lisa’s blog, and she really scored on her hunting trip. Make sure to check her out!

  1. Hey – nice tour of Broadway!
We finally found the face, too.
Is it supposed to be Mr. Bowen?
Kind of looks like Teddy Roosevelt.
It was an interesting experience to get out and take a really good look at these old buildings. I thought I was going to have a hard time finding something different than everyone else. Surprising how much of this stuff is out there going unnoticed.
Can’t wait to see what Bryan found!

  2. Thanks, would’ve loved to have gone back to Elyria or Oberlin, but schedule wouldn’t allow it. And this was spur of the moment. Loraine gave me an idea for a future post, so I’ll have to do a little diggin’, and maybe pay a visit to the BR Historical Society.

  3. Ya notice that all these great architectural things can be found in the “old neighborhood” and there are so many more… I am really enjoying the adventure you are all on…. thanks for this series….. Loraine

  4. Glad you’re enjoying the ‘site-seeing’, Loraine. It’s been fun, and I’m very glad Lisa suggested this. Her turn to come up with a challenge.

  5. Mark,
I always thought of photos like yours of the Broadway buildings architectural highlights would make a great contest for the newspaper to run getting citizens trying to locate them in the City. This might them appreciate the city’s history.

  6. Carolyn,

That would be pretty neat. I thought about doing that here, but I don’t get near enough traffic to try it. Was going to offer dinner at a local restaurant, too; maybe I’ll think about it again.

    Thanks for bringing it up.

  7. Yeah, I think Loraine’s talking to you, Mark. No amount of MSPaint or Picasa is going to get me those kind of results.
And hey, Photoshop if you wanna. I lack those skills but enjoy seeing what others can do with their pictures.

    What happened to Bryan?

  8. I have great faith in you both ….. and especially Marks ability with photo shop 🙂 I can see faces in potholes 😉
what lies beneath the Black river and politicians “pressing engagements” and Mark who’s on first?

  9. Sorry but I really got slammed this week, The only day I had it rained. I will post some soon for the last one and will get some reflections up also.
