surface tension –noun Physics. the elasticlike force existing in the surface of a body, esp. a liquid, tending to minimize the area of the surface, caused by asymmetries in the intermolecular forces between surface molecules.

Not that you really needed/wanted to know what it was, or what it meant. Sometimes, just looking at something is all that you need.
